Album Description The Sound album released in 2008 shows Mary Mary are not ones to shy away from in-your-face declarations of faith, the girls are now more intentional than ever about whom they adore, without for a moment compromising their call to innovation and growth. The introspective 'Seattle' is a prime example, a pensive prayer that asks the Lord to descend upon the soul the same way rain falls on the Emerald City. In the vein of Mary Mary standards 'Can't Give Up Now' and 'Yesterday,' a couple of ballads on The Sound stand out for their passionate delivery: 'I Trust You' (feat. Marvin Winans) and 'I Worship You' are easily the sonic and spiritual plateaus of the album.

I was very disappointed. I LUV Mary Mary but I felt anything but spiritual when I listened to this. I wish they would get back to their roots and stop trying to be so mainstream. This CD was not my cup of tea. In a way I feel bad about this review because I didn't listen to a single song all the way through. It just didn't move me at all. I didn't have a thank jesus moment nor a amen nor hallelujah. With their previous CD's I did all that and then some.
Praise the Lord this album is fantastic! Dec 19, 2009
Anyone, and everyone, that has come up in the church loves to hear good praise and worship music. And, most people like a little hip-hop, jazz, and R & B. Mary Mary have infused all these musical influences into their album "the Sound", and haven't missed a step in telling anyone that Jesus is the way; the only way to GOD. There is a little something here for everyone whether your taste(s) range from straight Gospel, or you're closer to Adult Christian Contemporary. There isn't a bad song on this album. Song after song the message is loud and clear. The Campbell sisters prove to be a dynamic duo bringing back a few old school beats, a couple of quiet reflective notes on the Master of the Universe, and then they turn around and give the young kids something they can dance to. GOD be praised this album is a good time, and a lovely record of how good the 'King of kings' really is!
Love, Love, Love Dec 4, 2009
I had heard Shackles(Praise You) a while ago and loved the song. At the time I was too caught up in other music to really get into gospel or christian music. Not too long ago a life changing event occured and I found myself not only purchasing Thankful but The Sound too. I don't regret either purchase. My favorite songs are "Get Up" instead of a normal alarm on my clock I hear GET UP! It really gets me moving. Another favorite is "God In Me" this song helped me with some self-esteem issues I've been dealing with lately. My next favorite is "Superfriend" in this song I know no matter if I have the presence of friends around or not I have a Superfriend always and forever.
Twist on Praise Nov 2, 2009
The Sound is not for everyone, but if you love to praise God and looking for an upbeat cd with a young flare to it, then this is the cd for you!!! Try not to judge the cd until you hear it!
Uplifting and Funky! Nov 2, 2009
Great album! I usually never buy gospel music, but this ablum actually has made me a fan to listen to spiritual music all the time. The best track, "God in me".
