This anointed musical masterpiece consists of the gift of God's love, wrapped in the beautiful paper of poetry, and tied with "pretty pink ribbons" (Track 4, "Pretty Lady"). The CD may be divided in to two parts: Songs 1:10, and Songs 11-20. Both portions begin with three songs reminiscent of playful, joyful rocking . They are rather up-tempo for lullabies, but coax a child in to deep and peaceful slumber, filled with the knowledge of her parents' love. These songs are followed by slower, gentler balads that pull a drowsy dreamer in to the peaceful rest that Christ Jesus brings. The songs on both parts begin with a joyful illustration of a mother's love, followed by two songs that focus upon concepts relative to infants and toddlers (teddy bears, peak-a-boo, rain, etc.) Intermediate songs concentrate upon the blessing that a child is to her parents; "Pretty Lady" speaks of a mother's cherishing of her little girl, who will "be grown up too soon". "Daddy's Girl" incorporates a father's love for his daughter, "the sunshine of [her] daddy's world". "Itty Bitty Baby Girl" may be illustrated as a small child running to her mother, the latter's countenance bearing an enraptured expression. The girl holds out a pearl--a tiny morsel of purity which the mother enthusiastically accepts. The lyrics are so very indicative of this mental picture: Itty bitty baby girl Daddy's pride, Mama's pearl Tiny treasure, so petite Great is the joy that you bring To your daddy and me To explain the nature of these beautiful, poetic songs would take far more room than I am currently allotted. Let us, then, proceed to the "Jesus songs". These are each uniquely designed to bring encouragement and peace in to the households touched by this CD. Included are words of exhortation based on 1 Corinthians 13, prayers concerning a daughter's eventual husband and children, and two beautiful songs of dedication. How precious it is to give a child in to the hands of Him Who knows all things and who cares so intensely for His creation. "Bless My Daughter" is an earnest and intimate prayer to our "Father Above", that the daughter prayed-for might possess the attributes of several Biblical women: Sarah, Ruth, Deborah, Hannah, Esther, Priscilla, Elizabeth, Abigail, and Mary. This is the epitome of "a woman of God" (Track 10, "Bless My Daughter"). Particularly edifying is Kelly Willard's rendition of "'Tis So Sweet". One is able instantly to recognize that she truly does trust in Jesus. One word more must be said concerning the instrumentation of this musical poetry, this magnificent rainbow of God's love. Included are a harp, a dulcimer, and a flute. The harp is truly a joy to hear; the flute, however, shows itself to be a diamond among the granite of all other instruments. The player of the flute is so anointed that it is as if she is singing when she plays. On the lighter songs, she seems to laugh for joy. The more worshipful songs find her flute crying out notes of continual praise. Kelly Willard herself is a soft, gentle singer whose lovely voice slides like silk through the brilliantly-accompanied songs. The words are heartfelt and characteristic of all purity in the Lord. So great is the peace that Jesus brings in this CD that a child might surely find it quite easy to "close [her] sleepy eyes" (Don Francisco, "Lullaby".)
My daughter STILL wants to listen... Feb 26, 2006
I got this CD when my daughter was born. I used it for her many a night. the songs, as mentioned, are very soothing, and very spiritually nurturing of a little girl. My daughter, a young black girl trying to make it in today's world of all kinds of music, at age 12, mind you, in middle school, STILL looks for this cd. in fact, that is why I am ordering another copy. she lives with her dad and had a nightmare. she wanted to put this CD in but lost it during the move. Can you believe she made a specific request for that CD? Not any of the popular music, but the one that reminded her of her mother and her peace and spiritual center. Buy the album, start using it early. the messages are solid, enduring, soothing, nurturing, and will guide your daughter to be a woman of God.
A Must Have for Your Daughter! Jan 4, 2004
I bought this for my niece 8 years ago. The soothing sounds always got her to wind down and go to bed when it was sleep time. She could even be tricked into sleep by this album, literally! The sound is that surreal! But what I like most about it is the message it gives not only to the child but also to anyone else listening! The songs are so individual and personal that she spoke about many things from the album regularly. Discussion time about who she is and her importance as a little person were enhanced by this album. She felt really special by the things she heard from the songs. The prayers in song were so heartrendering to listen to and pray along with. I strongly believe that this album has helped to shape and mould her as a confident young person. The spiritual lessons are indeed timeless and unique.
When my second niece came along she was named Abigail from one of the songs in the album. Unfortunately the Tape broke soon after she was born from constant usage. My family has been trying to find another album ever since! I wish I had had the good sense to purchase 2! Now I am trying to get another as well as the Boy version as well, "Bless My little Boy" (you just never know!). If you've got one you would like to part with let me know! I will have it!
My goodness. . what a blessing! Dec 22, 2003
This is the first time I've seen this offered on this site. I purchased this album over 8 years ago, while taking care of a child. Since then she was joined by another sister. These girls know the songs inside and out. . . and are comforted by this album when facing stresses in their lives (shots by the doctors!) or scarey things that go bump in the night.
But, my favorite thing about this album, are the blessings that are spoken (sung) over the girls. "Father, above, bless my little one. . . may she grow to be a woman of God. May my daughter be like Ruth and Esther."
As you rock-a-bye your daughter to sleep, you also learn the words. It is very cool to sing along and pray these words of dedication over babies (even if you're not their mom!)
Best lullaby CD ever! Aug 28, 2003
I have had this CD for over nine years and it is still my favorite for my two girls. They love it when I sing the songs I learned from this collection to them at bedtime. The lyrics are such a blessing to both a mother and daughter's heart. I have used the lyrics of "Bless My Daughter" as wording for cards of congratulations to new parents of girls. Their eyes light up when they read the poetic words of how I wish their daughters to "grow to be a woman of God" while comparing them to various bible characters, ie: "May she have the faith of Sarah". The lyrics are so meaningful that many of these cards end up in the baby's scrapbook or framed on the wall of their bedrooms. Every new mom of a girl should have this CD. There is a matching one for boys - "Bless My Little Boy"
