Product Description
God wants and expects us to be thoroughly aware of the times in which we live. To this end, He gave us His Word, many signs to help us recognize the nearness of His promised return. As Christians, we have the privilege of living in this exciting period and seeing this great drama unfold. To help us understand these times, The Final Act can be viewed as a four-act drama: Act I The stage is set and the plot is introduced. Here we see Israel become a nation, observe the Antichrist, and contemplate escalating world problems. Act II The rapture of the church occurs, when God snatches away His people before the great tribulation. Act III The great tribulation is ushered in as God brings judgment upon the world. Act IV The second coming of Christ is witnessed by all as we see Christ judging the earth and setting up His kingdom. What exciting days we are living in! Like observers invited backstage before a play, we can see the director positioning the actors and making sure the props are in order. We can feel the excitement in these minutes before he signals for the curtain to rise. This analogy is apt, for God is positioning nations and current events before our very eyes. In The Final Act, Pastor Chuck Smith sets the stage for God s prophetic plan, providing insight into current world events leading up to one climatic battle that will usher in eternity. Explaining the rapture, the rise of the Antichrist, and conditions that favor the Lord s soon return, The Final Act is a compact, hard-hitting exposa on the last days of human history.

The Final Act  Mar 12, 2010
The Final Act is a must for every Christian to read. Chuck Smith brings the Bible alive as he sets the stage for the end times, from Israel to the antichrist.

Chuck does it again!  Dec 16, 2009
Great insights while being accessible for any age reader. Chuck lays out compelling evidence for all to ponder and prayerfully consider. I would recommend this book to all who have an open mind as to the Lord's plan for the last days. Thank you Pastor Chuck!

Great piece of work regarding things to come...  Aug 1, 2009
Personally I had a very hard time putting this book down once I started flipping the pages. If you are seeking a book which clearly explains end time events in an easy to understand and in a scripturally sound manner, this is the book for you. This author has much integrity in my view due to the fact that he does not USE scripture to "prove" his views - rather he explains what scripture says and relates it to our world events historically and in the present.

Chuck's Been Writing These for Decades  May 6, 2009
I obviously didn't enjoy this book as much as most of the reviewers did. Possibly because Chuck Smith has been covering material like this for decades now. I remember once when Chuck picked up a large empty manure bag during a Sunday evening service as a visual reference to a "Last Days" message he was giving that night, similar to the information in this book. On the front of the bag in large numerals was the number 666. While most in attendance thought it was a great visual aid, I just looked down at my Bible and shook my head. What was printed on the bag in no way supported what Chuck was talking about that night, just like in a number of cases in this book. It was all pure sensationalism.

Now don't get me wrong here. The scriptures tell us that we should be able to read the signs of the times prior to Christ's return. However, if you watch the news at all, read the paper and keep studying your Bible, you don't need a book like this. Does "The Final Act" make me any better prepared for the end times, or does it just tickle my fascination?

Many of the reviewers even recommended giving this book to unbelievers. Why? I guess it may raise the question of a possible coming day of judgment in an unbeliever's mind, and that could lead to further inquiry. Then, on the other hand, it may also make all the "End Times" material in this novel-like book seem like pure fantasy. The apostle Paul stated, "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes...(Rom 1:16)" Now that is what has the power to produce real positive results! "End Times" books rarely put their material in a true gospel context. What often happens is unprepared and uninformed responders walk forward at the popular stadium-style performances, many not having a clue why, just being swept forward by all the emotional "Last-Days" hoopla.

I also have a couple of technical issues with the book. Yes, just as many of the other reviewers noted, it was a very fast read. In fact, it read very similar to a magazine article or a short fictional novel. Why would that cause an unbeliever to take it seriously? Or any differently than anything else available on any newsstand?

I also would have preferred that Chuck put his supporting notes and scripture references either in the book's narrative or at the bottom of the applicable page. It was cumbersome to keep flipping back and forth for this material. But then, putting everything at the back of the book, instead of on the applicable page, did tend to support the sensational, novel-like style of the book.

Personally, equating certain current events to biblical prophesy doesn't make what the prophets and apostles wrote any more real or authentic. I imagine it has happened, but I can't say that I have ever heard of anyone who was brought to saving faith in Jesus Christ by comparing current events and last days biblical texts. Though I imagine it could happen. God used a sour-puss preacher like Jonah to save those in Nineveh, so obviously it's possible.

I guess this is what my book review actually comes down to. I'm simply unsure of the value of books like these in light of our Great Commission to preach the gospel. I think Tim LaHaye and Jerry Bridges already have numerous books written in a similar style, and I don't see much value in their books either. Chuck has what seems like an endless number of studies and books on this subject ("What the World is Coming To" and "The Last Days" are a couple of examples). Did we really need another one?

Books like this tend to make Christians think, "See, the Bible is true because of what I saw on the news last night." When we should be saying, "What I saw on the news last night is relevant because the Bible says so." If books like this one remind Christians of what the Bible promises will happen, that clearly has some value. But I guess after all these years I would just like to see something less predictable, and more substantial from Chuck Smith. Is that too much to ask?

Not what I was expecting.  Apr 22, 2009
I have been listening to the Pastor for many years now and he is indeed a genuine christian for all it's worth. I have recently been returned to god after many years of backsliding. One of the main topics that have vexed me for quite sometime is the rapture. This book has great beginnings and endings, but the middle portion was slightly disappointing. I was wanting to get a better understanding of the rapture and what it was about. I have always expected for Christ to come at anytime, but didn't know why. I am afraid though that this book doesn't give a good case for the rapture actually taking place before the tribulation. I know it will happen, but I still do not see biblically that it will take place before the tribulation for lots of reasons. I am going to go on and read others to assess it further, this is the first book on my studying journey and I didn't seem to gain any understanding on the subject. Other entries in the book were very well written and easy to grasp as well.
