I've heard a ton of hype about Jeremy Camp (rightly so, because he's an excellent singer), but this release wasn't as good as I expected. I bought it at Winter Jam 2007 where I live in Mobile, AL. At the concert, Jeremy was fantastic, so I bought his CD--I'm not saying I regret it, but it's not the best CD in the world. The first four songs of the CD are fabulous and really catchy. "Tonight", "What It Means", (two #1 hits), and "Let It Fade" all take on a rock approach while the title track goes to a softer note. Of course, there are some other good songs on the CD, and Jeremy's voice is excellent, but most of the songs aren't as catchy and fun to listen to. But don't get me wrong--I would still recommend this CD to many people...not everyone has the same opinion as I do, anyway.
Not his best, not by far Mar 16, 2007
Two things I loved about Jeremy Camp. (1) His lyrics were so "real", so easy to relate to, and so encouraging. Even challenging at times. (2) He had cool guitar parts. While not overly complicated, they were pleasant to listen to.
Beyond Measure is fairly bland, sad to say. The lyrics seem somewhat uninspired (sounds blasphemous, but let me explain), and the songs themselves are not very original. There are a few good tunes, but this one doesn't find its way to my CD player nearly as much as his previous releases.
About the lyrics: for the most part, they do not strike a chord with me the way his two other major releases (Stay and Restored) did. There are many platitudes about taking up one's cross, living a life of sacrifice, giving God control, and on and on. I know these are all good things, but I just don't "feel" his heart (or God's) in these songs. Maybe that will change in time. The worst song lyrically on the album is probably "Give You Glory" which throws out all the standard phrases. The best song is probably "I Am Nothing". Of course "Give Me Jesus" is awesome too, but it's a cover of a hymn so I can't credit him with lyrical genius here.
Of course it's Jeremy Camp, which means that fans of his music will likely gobble this one up too (as many already have, as evidenced by the reviews). But I guess maybe I am looking at this album critically. Which is good, because Christian artists need to be held to high standards, too! While his voice and songwriting don't come into question, his passion does. I recommend listening to audio clips before purchasing this one.

Great as always Feb 19, 2007
I like everything that Jeremy Camp does and this one is no different. If you want a song that will touch your heart, then listen to "Give Me Jesus." It is a very simple song, that has a very deep meaning.
Definitely Jeremy's best CD ever Jan 12, 2007
Some people have written some reviews about this CD saying they didn't like it, etc. I am not about to say something like "Don't listen to that person" but, I do not agree with those reviews.
I love Jeremy's music, he, in my opinion, is the best singer there is. He sings all of his songs to bring glory to the Lord. He really loves Jesus, and it is shown in the songs he sings.
The music is very uplifting, and if I do say so myself, awesome. I am almost always listening to it.
I definitely recommend this CD to any Jeremy Camp fan, or someone who even isn't that used to Jeremy Camp's music, I'm sure you'll love it.
