Outline
You'll find nothing here to dispel the notion that Caedmon's Call is one of the up-and-comers of the Christian music world. Long Line of Leavers, while perhaps not as strong as its brilliant predecessor (40 Acres), shows us a maturing band whose recording process now fully employs Caedmon's ensemble prowess. "Prepare Ye the Way" and "Valley" chronicle the fact, melting the vocals of husband-and-wife duo Cliff and Danielle Young into the acoustic-oriented folk rock for which the band is known so well. Derek Webb continues to prove himself one of the genre's finest writers here with the wonderfully moving "Dance" and the energetic "What You Want." Not to be outdone, Aaron Tate, the only member of the band who does not sing or play, offers songwriting gems in "Prove Me Wrong" and the aforementioned "Valley." Caedmon's Call clearly understand their strengths (songwriting and ensemble performance) and showcase them well in this worthy third release. --Michael Lyttle

Caedmon's Call And Derek Webb  Jun 5, 2006
This seems to be the Caedmon's Call CD where Caedmon's and Derek Webb began heading toward different directions. Derek Webb, though, contributes several songs on this CD: Love Is Different, Mistake Of My Life, What You Want, Can't Lose You, Dance, Piece of Glass (with Danielle Young), and Ballad of San Francisco. However, while Aaron Tate's songs focus more on God and His love, Derek has focused his more on growing older and love (or lack of finding love). I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, as "What You Want" is one of the best songs I have ever heard Derek write and "Love Is Different" is good as well. "Dance" is very powerful and has great imagery of Derek's grandmother, Mary Webb, and always puts a smile on my face. But I feel that what keeps this album from being a five star album is that it feels a little unbalanced, without a clear focus on what the album is about. Basically, what I am trying to say is that individually, these are all very good songs, but listening to them in order on an album, it feels a little out of place. It's like listening to a Caedmon's Call song about despite our sin, God still loves us, and then hearing Derek sing about how he'll never find true love, then hear a Caedmon's Call song about God getting us through hard times, and then hearing Derek sing about how he'll never find true love, and then a song about him wandering around San Francisco. It just doesn't feel totally cohesive. With that rambling out of the way, this CD is still recommended. Danielle Young's vocals are hauntingly beautiful on "Masquerade" and I've always wanted Caedmon's to feature her voice more. In conclusion, Caedmon's Call has been blessed to have had such fine songwriters in Aaron Tate and Derek Webb, but it didn't flow as nicely as it did on the self-titled CD.

The continuation of Caedmon's Call  Jul 20, 2005
This album 'Long Line of Leavers' shows the true talent of this contemporary christian pop group from the USA that shows talent in the lyric writing, the song ensemble creations as well as the vocals that are sung by a husband/wife team. Caedmon's Call are a group of Christians who have banded together to sing their joys in their faith and to sing messages of hope and faith that is needed in a world that is losing faith a little every day. Every song is strengthened by the lyrics that have something to say - a message in every song.
The best songs on this folk-pop albums are 'Love Is Different', 'Can't Lose You' 'Dance' and 'Prepare Ye The Way'.

This Group Is So Talented And Blessed.  May 31, 2004
I first heard this CD a few years ago while working at a Christian bookstore. The songs on this CD have become so imbedded in my head; for six months I played this CD as background music in the store. The entire group has such soft and moving voices, this CD is great entertainment.

Smooth, easy listening for the believer is the best way to describe this CD. If that's what your looking for, you'll find it here.

Great job Caedmon's Call!

this album is a turning point fo rthe band. they seem to be experimenting with some different sounds on this album as oppsed to past albums. but in spite of what other people thought when it was released, they haven't sold out and they are still 'folk'.

Unique, moving, and touching  Jul 2, 2003
Caemon's Call's "Long Line of Leavers" album is absolutely amazing artwork. I was reminded of what love is in "Love is Different" and it made me want to share those same words with everyone. "Piece of Glass" is a magnificent uplifting song which shows that looking in a mirror does not describe who you are. The entire album is filled with wisdom that the band posesses beyond their years. I would definitely recommend this album more than any other.
